Latest Palin Controversy Is Lefty Hokum

A column on Sarah Palin’s black bracelet has the lefty blogosphere in a full-flamed fury—but it’s a misguided “hit piece,” William Jacobson tut-tuts. Though the bracelet is sometimes used to memorialize a relative or comrade killed in military action (as veteran Eric Robinson writes in the Yale Daily News), it’s just as often used to celebrate the service of one who’s still alive (such as Palin’s son Track, who served in Iraq—not to mention Joe Biden's son Beau), Jacobson explains for Legal Insurrection.

Yet various liberal outposts are calling Palin’s move tasteless, mega-embarrassing, horrifying and the like. Writes Jacobson: “To make the leap from Palin wearing a commonly available deployment bracelet to Palin having contempt for fallen soldiers is both a bridge too far and a bridge to nowhere.”
