A weeks-long search for a missing Northern Kentucky University student has ended in grim fashion, ABC News reports. Police said Sunday that the body of 22-year-old Murry (Alexis) Foust was found in Wilder, Kentucky, at the site of a former steel plant, nearly a month after Foust was last seen in Covington's Latonia neighborhood on the evening of April 27. A friend says Foust was walking to campus at the time and never made it to class, People reports.
Authorities say they currently see no signs of foul play, but the Campbell County coroner will determine the official cause and manner of death. Foust, a fine arts major who had been expected to graduate earlier this month, was the subject of an intensive search that involved water rescue teams and drones, as well as an independently organized search group that ultimately located the body. The exact time of the discovery was unclear, WLWT reports. Covington police offered condolences to the family, saying they hope the discovery brings "a measure of closure." Northern Kentucky University called Foust's death "a profound loss" for the campus community.
