More than 38,000 cases of frozen tater tots are being pulled from freezers in upward of two dozen states due to possible plastic contamination. McCain Foods USA has voluntarily recalled the cases of Ore-Ida Tater Tots and Sysco Imperial Potato Tater Barrels, the Food and Drug Administration said, per People. The agency reports the products may contain "clear hard plastic fragments," which could pose a safety risk if eaten. The recall is classified as Class II, meaning any health effects are expected to be temporary and the chance of serious harm is considered low. No injuries were noted in the FDA announcement.
The recalled tots were distributed in 26 states: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin. Check out the FDA site for batch codes and lot numbers.
