A mother of seven in the midst of a messy divorce went out on a date Saturday only to be gunned down along with her date. Authorities say the estranged husband of fitness influencer Gloria Zamora shot the pair outside a sushi restaurant in Fontana, California, before he was shot and killed by an off-duty San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy who was driving by the scene, per the New York Daily News. "We don't know how he knew where she was at, but apparently, she had been at the restaurant for approximately an hour prior to the shooting," Fontana Police Department Officer Steve Reed tells KABC, suggesting a divorce "led to this."
Less than a week before the shooting, Zamora spoke about leaving 45-year-old Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga on an episode of her HERizon podcast. She said her marriage started falling about "a year and a half ago," and suggested her partner wasn't supportive and was "holding me back." A fitness coach and social media influencer with more than 150,000 followers on Instagram, Zamora leaves behind seven children aged 8 to 24, according to GoFundMe. "My mom was senselessly taken from us, she was murdered by my stepdad Tomas, in an act of unimaginable violence," daughter Jazlynne Zamora writes, per the Daily News. More than $32,000 has been raised for the family as of this writing.
