Cobra Kai actor Martin Kove was removed from a fan convention Sunday after allegedly biting his former co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim in an incident that she says left visible marks. Kove, who played John Kreese in the Netflix series Cobra Kai as well as the original Karate Kid films, was escorted out of Washington State Summer Con after the incident with Hannah-Kim, who appeared opposite Kove in more than a dozen episodes of the series. According to a police report reviewed by Entertainment Weekly, Hannah-Kim approached Kove to greet him at the event when he grabbed her arm and bit down, nearly breaking the skin. She described the encounter in a statement to police, noting she was left with visible teeth marks, bruising, and pain.

Hannah-Kim told police that Kove later became angry when she calmly asked him not to bite her, insisting it was meant as a joke. Kove told responding officers he thought he was being funny and referenced a history of play fighting on set, adding that he didn't believe it was a big deal. The police informed Kove that his actions were considered illegal, but he declined to provide a written statement.

Although Hannah-Kim chose not to press charges, she filed a report and had her injuries documented as a precaution. Kove ultimately apologized to her before being escorted from the event, and he later apologized publicly, Variety reports. "I deeply regret and apologize for my actions regarding the incident with Alicia, a genuinely kind and wonderful person who didn't deserve to be put in this position," he said in a statement. "I was being playful in the moment but went too far and there is absolutely no excuse for my behavior. I regret my actions for which I take full responsibility for what I did." Cobra Kai's sixth and final season came out in February. (This content was created with the help of AI. Read our AI policy.)
