Viewers of a state TV in Iran got an abrupt sense of the Israeli bombardment when an explosion interrupted a live newscast on Monday, reports DW. Watch the moment via Al Jazeera. Axios also has footage. The blast rocked the studio in Tehran, sending a news anchor fleeing and turning the studio dark. The broadcast then reverted to pre-recorded programming, per the AP.
The explosion happened after Israel warned residents in certain parts of Tehran to evacuate, including the area where the studio is located. Israel's defense minister later boasted of the strike. "The Iranian regime's propaganda and incitement broadcasting authority was attacked by the IDF after a widespread evacuation of the area's residents," Israel Katz said in a statement. "We will strike the Iranian dictator everywhere." (Iran is reportedly pushing for an end to hostilities.)
