Rielle Hunter: High Profile, Then Out of Sight

John Edwards' former mistress has been a part of high-profile social circles in New York, and Los Angeles, but finding old friends willing to talk about the Rielle Hunter they knew is a tough task, the News & Observer reports. Hunter started out partying with a literary crowd in New York, where she did drugs and was a "seeker of truth."

She moved to Los Angeles to escape the drug culture, and got married, and wrote several unproduced scripts. From there, she moved on to a spiritual world, associating with swamis, astrologers, and healers. In 2006 she met Edwards and began making "webisodes" following the candidate on the campaign trail. But for the past few months, she's evaded the spotlight.
