Particularly offensive was a reference to Clinton's affiliation as "(D-Punjab)"; aimed to link her to the sore subject of outsourcing. Obama called it a "dumb mistake," Time reports. The candidate said he hadn't seen the memo before it went out, calling it "unnecessarily caustic" and "not reflective of the long-standing relationship I have had with the Indian-American community."
