US | Yosemite National Park Lucky Tourist Survives Scary Yosemite Plunge Dutch woman fell on granite slab, broke her pelvis By Arden Dier Posted Aug 18, 2015 10:50 AM CDT Copied Upper Yosemite Falls flows at full force after two days of significant rainfall Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, in Yosemite National Park, Calif. (AP Photo/National Park Service) A Dutch tourist is lucky to be alive after falling 25 feet in Yosemite National Park on Saturday. Though the 28-year-old woman is believed to have broken her pelvis—which can be a fatal injury in some cases—the San Francisco Chronicle suggests the incident could have been far worse: she fell on the trail to the top of Upper Yosemite Fall, just above where Yosemite Creek plunges 1,400 feet. The tourist, who was reportedly conscious and alert, was airlifted off the granite slab she fell on and taken to a hospital. (Two kids just died tragically in the park.)
