Dodgers Must Pay Beaten Fan $15M

The Dodgers must pay about $15 million to a fan who suffered brain damage in a 2011 attack on Opening Day, reports Reuters. Jurors found the team negligent in the beating suffered by Bryan Stow in a parking lot after the game. Two Dodgers fans attacked the Giants fan so savagely that he now requires daily medical care, says the family of the 45-year-old. Stow's attorneys argued that the team didn't provide adequate security. Jurors, however, did not hold former owner Frank McCourt responsible for any damages, reports CBS Los Angeles.

The jury found the team liable for all of Stow's economic losses, including lost wages and medical bills, estimated at $14 million. The former paramedic also got $4 million for pain and suffering, though the Dodgers are responsible for only $1 million of that. The rest is supposed to come from the two men who attacked him—they're currently serving sentences of eight and four years respectively. Stow had sought a total of $60 million.
