Slashdot Doesn't Digg Ron Paul

Social news sites like Digg don’t work, says Slashdot founder Rob Malda, and Ron Paul is Exhibit A. “A lot of these community news sites are all about Ron Paul,” Malda told the New York Times. “What that is really demonstrating is that you are seeing 1 or 2 percent of a community shaping where the whole community is going.”

Malda was promoting his new non-tech news site Idle, which like Slashdot uses editors to hand-pick news, as opposed to the Digg model of letting anyone add or promote stories. “I try not to paint Digg as my arch-nemesis,” he said, “But with sites like Digg, it’s the wisdom of the crowds… you never know what you’re going to get.”
