Nirvana Reunites, With McCartney in for Cobain

The surviving members of Nirvana are reuniting at the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy relief concert tonight, the Sun reports. In the place of iconic frontman Kurt Cobain: One Paul McCartney, although he won't be singing any of Nirvana's well-known hits. Instead, he's been working on a new song with Nirvana founding members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and unofficial member Pat Smear. Tonight will mark the first time those three have played together in two decades.

When the group first started "jamming," "I didn’t really know who they were," Sir Paul recalls. "They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said 'Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time?' And somebody whispered to me ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.' I couldn’t believe it."
