Politics | Hillary Clinton Crunch Time in Iowa: Rivals Step Up Attacks Tight races on both sides mean no let-up in campaigning By John Johnson Posted Dec 29, 2007 7:31 PM CST Copied Republican presidential hopeful, Sen. (AP Photo/Steven Senne) (Associated Press) Presidential candidates blitzed through Iowa on the final weekend before next week's caucuses looking to lock up the all-important camp of undecided voters, Reuters reports. The Republican race continued to turn negative, with Romney going after both McCain and Huckabee in new ads, and both candidates striking back at him on the trail. Democrats Clinton, Obama, and Edwards remained in a dead heat, squabbling over who is most ready to lead the nation. As many as one-third of Iowa voters in both parties have yet to make up their minds about a candidate, the Wall Street Journal notes. With the races so tight, the campaigning will go down to the wire before Thursday's caucuses. Read These Next Venezuela responds to the US seizure of an oil tanker.
