Crime | Dark Knight massacre 'Dark Knight' Suspect Says He Has Amnesia 'Daily News': He keeps telling jail staff he doesn't know why he's there By Kevin Spak Posted Jul 27, 2012 1:30 PM CDT Copied This photo combination shows a variety of facial expressions of James E. Holmes during his appearance at Arapahoe County District Court Monday, July 23, 2012, in Centennial, Colo. (AP Photo/Denver Post, RJ Sangosti, Pool) James Holmes has been telling jailhouse workers that he doesn't remember his alleged shooting spree. "He claims he doesn't know why he's in jail," one worker tells the New York Daily News. "He asked, 'Why am I here?'" But the worker said the guards are unconvinced. "He needs to save his act for the jury, because no one here is buying it. Everyone is convinced he is faking it." The 24-year-old is being kept in his cell 23 hours a day, and must wear a bulletproof vest during his daily walk, for fear other inmates will attack him. And he is apparently not pleased with the food. "He's claiming his belly hurts him," the worker said. "The guy killed 12 people, and he’s upset that he’s not getting a four-star meal?" (Holmes' defense team disclosed today that he was seeing a psychiatrist before the massacre.) Read These Next MSNBC analyst fired for his take on Charlie Kirk shooting.
