In a game that featured many stars, it was an obscure 22-year-old defenseman from Calgary that stole the show in Washington’s 5-4 overtime victory over the New York Rangers. Mike Green scored the game-winner during the extra period, and also tallied two assists. Martin Straka had two goals for the Rangers, but New York was outshot 35-23, reports the AP.

The final goal was a result of an ill-timed fall from New York winger Brendan Shanahan, which allowed Brooks Laich to skate off with the puck and find Green on the odd-man rush. Alex Ovechkin continued his impressive season by netting his 22nd goal of the season. Henrik Lundqvist had 30 saves for the Rangers in the losing effort.
