Campaign for crucial women's vote moves into high gear

The Clinton campaign, in a dead heat with Obama in Iowa, is pulling out all the stops to bolster Clinton's support among the group long considered her core constituency: women. Along with appearances by influential women such as Madeleine Albright and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Hillary Clinton's mom and daughter, Chelsea, have joined the trail, the Washington Post and Politico report.

In a move Hillary Clinton has long resisted, Dorothy Rodham is now appearing at Iowa rallies. Chelsea, long a quiet supporter, joined her mom today. Clinton advisers admit that "Obama has made some inroads with women" and may make more now that Oprah has joined the team. Polls show female voters evenly split between the two.
