(AP Photo/Aaron Favila) Soon after shots were fired in front of the White House, the head of college Republicans at the University of Texas Austin suggested that shooting the president might be “tempting.” “Y'all as tempting as it may be, don't shoot Obama,” Lauren Pierce tweeted. “We need him to go down in history as the WORST president we've EVER had! #2012.” After ABC News caught up with her, Pierce said it was a “joke.” The whole matter was “stupid,” she told ABC amid laughter. Trying to kill the president would “only make the situation worse." The group’s vice-president said Pierce had “made a positive statement in a way,” though perhaps one inappropriate for the college Republican president. In the end, Pierce apologized on Twitter and wiped the post, the Huffington Post notes. “It's never funny to joke about such a serious matter,” she tweeted. “I have learned a very valuable lesson."
