Navy Probing Skipper's Role in Raunchy Videos

The second-in-command aboard the nuclear-powered USS Enterprise spent an inordinate amount of time producing gay-bashing videos that he broadcast to the entire ship—often while on missions supporting the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq—and the US Navy is taking a look into the matter. As the Virginian-Pilot reports, the videos feature sailors in drag, gay slurs, simulated masturbation, and a rectal exam. And starring front and center in the sketches for "XO Movie Night" is Owen Honors, now captain of the boat.

The Navy backed away from the videos, saying they "were intended to be humorous," reports the AP, before denouncing them as "clearly inappropriate" and "not acceptable in today's Navy." The videos date to 2006 and 2007, and while it's unclear why they're surfacing now, Honors' future could be in jeopardy, with the Enterprise set to deploy within weeks. "When the ship pulls away from that pier, he's it," says an Enterprise officer. "To me, that's scary."
