Nintendo to Little Kids: Don't Use Our 3D Console

As Nintendo prepares to unveil its highly anticipated 3D gaming system, the company is warning that kids under 6 should steer clear. Because their eyes are still developing, the 3DS system could damage their vision, it says. In fact, users of all ages should be wary of eye fatigue with the glasses-free technology and ready to take a break. The Huffington Post has more.

The warning sounds alarming, but it's actually no surprise, notes Engadget. These concerns have been around for a while and previously reported. Still, expect a spate of is-it-safe-or-not stories as 3D becomes more popular. Legitimate studies on the subject are scant, writes Nilay Patel, "but in the meantime we're guessing the smart course of action is to treat 3D like any other fine vice: dose yourself in moderation and keep it away from kids until their parents say it's okay. Cool? Cool."
