The Westboro Baptist Church will picket the funeral of Elizabeth Edwards, it announced today on its website, the charmingly named godhatesfags.com. The church didn’t elaborate on Edwards' specific transgression, but given that its ultraconservative congregation usually gets its jollies protesting the funerals of dead soldiers, it probably didn’t need much of a reason. The church handling Edwards’ funeral tells the Washington Post that it’s aware of the planned protest, and that its staff is currently meeting to decide how to handle the situation.
