O'Donnell Dodges News Shows

Christine O'Donnell dodged news shows yesterday as critics held the Delaware Senate candidate's feet to the fire over her witchcraft dabbling. But she couldn't keep her reasons straight for why she was a last-minute no-show. O'Donnell handlers told Fox News Sunday she was "exhausted," but the candidate later said she had mistakenly "triple-booked" the time. Her campaign adamantly denied to Face the Nation on CBS that the Bill Maher video with O'Donnell admitting her fling with witchcraft had anything to do with the candidate ducking out.

Dem rival Chris Coons said the vanishing act proved O'Donnell is "simply not prepared to defend her positions." Karl Rove, who is stacking up as O'Donnell's harshest critic within the GOP, said on Fox that O'Donnell made a "smart decision by not getting on the Sunday shows; she shouldn't have accepted in the first place.” As for the witchcraft comment, the "church-going people" people of Delaware are "going to want to know what was that all about," he said.
